Launch of the mediation devices accompanying Ghosts of War

This week we presented the mediation project that complements our new production, Ghosts of War. This initiative has been developed jointly with the Xarxa Transversal and the Teatre L’Artesà del Prat de Llobregat, with the aim of expanding the theatrical experience beyond the stage.

The project seeks to explore new ways of connecting theatre and community. It consists of four participatory activities that directly address the main themes of the piece: unresolved conversations, the absence of dialogue, and how stories change as they pass from one voice to another.

The mediation work was developed in parallel with the artistic creation of the show —which premiered last October— and involved Lucía Miranda, the production’s director, and Cristina Alonso, a specialist in mediation processes. The ten cities of the Xarxa Transversal also took part by selecting their own mediation teams.

This collective process took shape through shared meetings, residencies and laboratories, where artists, programmers and mediators refined and tested the activities that form the project.

Four activities designed to spark conversation

The result is a set of four simple and adaptable dynamics, designed to spark spaces for conversation, play and reflection. They can be implemented in theatre foyers, school entrances or libraries. They can take place before or after the performance, and participants do not need to have seen the show. Each community can reinterpret and adapt them to its context, keeping the spirit that inspired the project: making theatre a living space for encounter, memory and participation.

In the coming months, Ghosts of War and its mediation devices will tour the ten cities that make up the Xarxa Transversal, presenting both the performance and the participatory activities that accompany it.
